Mainescape Garden Shop Rewritten – Yes Town: Blue Hill Category: Activities, Shopping |
Starting as a landscape company Mainescape Garden Shop grew their offerings to include a garden shop, an organic produce and baked goods store, a specialty dog food store, and a mail order store selling beautiful Christmas wreaths and centerpieces. The property itself is a gorgeous piece of work with various rooms to get lost in and discover their latest items. You’ll be amazed at what you can find, from blueberry pies, to pottery, to seeds and flowers, to dog food and dog toys, to handmade rugs, to garden tools, to local produce, and even tasty sandwiches. One of the true gems of the Blue Hill Peninsula.
|
Since 1977, Mainescape has grown with our community. We began as a design/build landscape company and quickly added a small garden shop. We started by providing local gardeners with all the seeds, tools, soil, fertilizers and plants they needed in the planting season. 15 years later we began selling local organic produce and baked goods, as well as specialty pet foods. Along the way we started a mail order Christmas business and send our signature wreaths and centerpieces all over the country during the holiday season. Reviews:
I am from out of state and completely blown away by the beauty, lay out and materials available. Not only do they have gorgeous plant materials but something for everyone. From flowers to food, decor to dog food. You need organic? They have that covered! Pies, decor, puzzles, oh my! Pottery and the things I did not even get to see upstairs! Beyond impressed at the beauty, friendliness and care in This gorgeous property. Best wishes to the owners and puppy!
In the center there’s an impressive collection of local foods and items, and it carries over into the next room, where you can find locally made gardening tools and natural gardening supplies, like Neptune’s Harvest products. There’s also rattan potting baskets and so much more to gaze at (and buy!) — even rugs, of all kinds, many handmade or loomed. I bought a beautiful bright Kilim rug that is still as bright today, even though it has taken a beating from my husband’s boots and my dog’s paws!
Plus, they allow us Mainers to keep going to the Blue Hill Farm Market year-round by lending them their greenhouse space! The staff is friendly, always chatting with customers but ready to help whenever you need it. A real gem Lovely nursery. Trusted by landscapers and home owners all over the Peninsula. Awesome pottery planters available.
Large assortment of flowering plants and gardening supplies. Local fruits and vegetables and sandwiches and the most awesome blueberry pies

By advancing this vital connection between healthy land and healthy communities, the Trust strives to be fully involved in peninsula communities through strong collaborations with their partners and municipalities. They were assisted by the Maine Coast Heritage Trust, which had experience in helping the formation of local land trusts. The organization was incorporated under the laws of the state of Maine in 1985 as a membership-funded organization and received 501(c)(3) status from the internal Revenue Service the same year. Quick service sandwich shop and deli. Proudly offering Boar’s Head® products.
Humblebee Cafe is a family-owned restaurant that offers organic and delicious food along with a very comfortable environment.
Wow! Great wraps! Was pleasantly surprised by the quality and tastiness of the wraps we got. Falafel wrap and Turkey ranch wrap. If I lived around here I’d definitely be a regular here! Really good ingredients and great flavor.
Wow. Homemade buttery, flakey biscuits and even homemade bagels!! This gem is set back a little off the road with blooming flower boxes, a quaint and clean interior that offers seating and local quilts for purchase. The women who worked there were friendly and attentive. Don’t sleep on this one.
There is even outdoor seating. Got breakfast sandwiches from this place which were so delicious. So fresh and hot. Highly recommend the homemade bagel for the breakfast sandwiches. Will be dreaming of this breakfast sandwich back in NY
Very cute place to eat breakfast. Plenty of seats outside, good friendly costumer service, nice garden on the back that you can visit, delicious biscuits and sandwiches, and the lobster roll is from another world!
Tasty homemade bagels and cream cheese to accompany your coffee. Nice dog-friendly outdoor seating area. We stopped here after checking out the Blue Hill Farmer’s Market
I have had nothing but wonderful service from the folks who own and work at Humblebee Cafe. The work that they have put into the space- inside and out shows! Everything is clean and fresh looking. The Greenhouse is a great option on a cool day and an innovative way to upcycle that space. During COVID they have had hands free pick up, takeout and through the winter there was a delivery option. Everything that I have tried there has been delicious! The Whole Hive Salad, Turkey Club, Steak and Cheese…all of the breakfast items. And the biscuits, oh the biscuits!!! So happy to see a local family succeeding and will happily continue to support them!
Fabulous food and the friendliest wait people in Blue Hill! Don’t miss the home made biscuits with jelly OR the breakfast sandwiches….sooo love HUMBLEBEE!!!
Reviews on facebook: Best bagel sandwiches, beet salad is fantastic, always delicious foods! Delicious Roasted Beet Salad, friendly staff, and fast service! This cute cafe is amazing! The Fish Net Rewritten – No Town: Blue Hill Category: Restaurants |
You’ll find seafood dishes here. This restaurant guarantees you perfectly cooked lobster rolls, fried fish, and steamed mussels. It’s a pleasant experience to order good sundaes and tasty blueberry pie. Great coffee or delicious milkshakes are among the most popular drinks The cozy atmosphere of this place makes visitors feel relaxed and have a nice time. The cheerful staff welcomes guests all year round. Spectacular service is a strong point that plays a great role in the success of this spot. From the guests’ viewpoint, prices are affordable. |
Great place for a quick bite of everything fried you shouldn’t be eating, definitely worth it obviously followed up with a soft serve ice cream cone. One of the top lobster rolls in the Penobscot Bay area. Steamers and fried clams are always great. Burgers, hot dogs, and salads give almost everybody a non-seafood option for those who might want one. Save room for ice cream, frozen yogurt, or a milkshake. Really fun, local place! You can sit at tables and be waited on the inside (they have AC) or you can order at the window and eat at one of the outdoor tables. The food was good, and fairly priced. What is there to say about the Fish Net? It’s practically an institution—good, classic, simple food. An Orange Dream milkshake just tastes like summer. We had a lobster roll, crab roll, and fried clams all were very fresh and tasty. The staff was humorous and the owner is very friendly. This is a must-GO in Blue Hill. The Fish Net menu offers a wide range of items. As expected, the Fish Net has lobster rolls and clams. They also serve lobsters, hamburgers, scallops, hot dogs, Haddock sandwiches, fish and chips, various chicken items plus many other things. They also sell live lobsters that can be taken home to prepare. A large menu with lots of variety.

Blue Hill Heritage Trails Rewritten – No Town: Blue Hill Category: Hiking |
There’s no better way to experience all that the Blue Hill area has to offer than to take a hike in or around the area. You’re in luck because there are multiple trails you can enjoy. Some of the most popular options are found here. The Osgood Trail About a mile long, this trail takes you to the summit and takes an average hiker 35 to 45 minutes to complete. It’s a great trail for beginners, and the trail is mostly wooded with loose rock. There are some ledges and exposed roots, as well as stone stairs, so take note of this before heading down it. The Becton Trail For a bit of a longer trek through the woods, you can try the two-mile Becton Trail. If you are a beginner when it comes to hiking, try one of the other options on the list since some challenging parts are best suited to someone who has more experience. You will enjoy views of Great Pond Mountain and Toddy Pond as you get close to the summit. The Hayes Trail The Hayes Trail offers a challenge for hikers who want to “see what they are made of.” It runs for about a mile and starts in an open field. Bucklyn Coffee Rewritten – Yes Town: Blue Hill Category: Coffee Shop |
The coffee you can purchase at the rustic Bucklyn Coffee is roasted on the coast of Maine and with their stated goal of bringing out the “best in the beans” they truly deliver as many claim it to be the best coffee in the area hands down. There’s no seating so it’a pick up and go type of place and the parking can be a bit challenging out front so it’s recommended to park down the street and wander up to the shop along your way. The homemade syrup and sticky buns get rave reviews as well. You can also buy their roasts on the Bucklyn Coffee website. |
Great place for coffee! Super kind and quick for how busy they are! It is pick up and go and you have to watch where you park. Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. It means a great deal to us. So glad you enjoyed it! So true about the parking, however. It is a bit challenging. backing into traffic is no joy. Best to park further down Main street and walk around enjoying all the other great shops in town as well. Have a great Summer Lady Lea!
Best coffee shop in the area. Cute little shop and delicious home made syrup. Super friendly guy that knows what he’s doing with coffee. I’ve spent days looking for good coffee while visiting. Will def be back when I’m in the area. 🙂
Best coffee shop in the area, hands down. And the sticky buns! and the staff! and the location! I must get back there as soon as possible.
And part of it really is about the place. It’s like a cross between a roadside coffee stand back in Washington State and a general store. There’s not really places to sit, set up your laptop and be productive but it’s a good place to linger a bit and be just social enough for New England.
The best coffee I’ve ever had! Made with so much care and love that you can taste it. If you’re in this area I highly recommend stopping here. I’m looking forward to coming back!
Got the dark roast Sumatra and it’s delicious! Full body with a ton of flavor and way less harsh than other dark roasts I’ve had. The owner was very helpful and offered a ton of knowledge and insight while I was deciding what beans I wanted! I can’t wait to go back for more beans and some of the coffee they have on-site.

Husband and I had dinner tonight and I absolutely had to write a glowing review! This is my first restaurant review ever! Attention to detail is over the top – immaculate, wonderful decor, friendly and speedy service. Vegetable pad Thai was perfect, chicken noodle soup was also perfect, and we came home with an entire quart.

We’re very excited to offer a broader variety of homemade baked goods, including our housemade, hand-crafted bagels, popovers, old-fashioned doughnuts and a range of homemade sourdough breads (plain, olive and rosemary, cranberry and walnut). Our bagels are more New York-style than you can even get in New York nowadays. Totally hand-crafted: hand-mixed, kneaded, shaped, boiled and baked – BY HAND. You will LOVE these bagels. BUT – these bagels are very labor-intensive and we can’t make them available in the same quantities that many bagel shops (that are fully mechanized) can. SO – we encourage all patrons to pre-order bagels in any quantities greater than 6 (and no more than 24). Usual varieties available are Poppy, Sesame, Salt, Onion, Plain, and Everything (sorry, no whole wheat, and Cinnamon Raisin can only be pre-ordered in quantities of 12 to 24). Our popovers are made fresh daily and our doughnuts are always made to order – always hot from the kitchen and always served with the doughnut hole. You can have our homemade sourdough as toast options for breakfast, bread options for our lunch sandwiches – and you can buy by the loaf on certain weekends.

Arborvine opened its doors with a simple purpose . . . to provide diners with the freshest, locally sourced foods available. Today, that tradition continues as the network of local farms, fisherman and foragers who supply Arborvine is as strong as ever. Whatever the season, it is this connection to the local harvest and the people behind it that has enabled Arborvine to fulfill that purpose now and into the future. Reviews:
