Testimonials

This is a great little cabin right on the water.

This is a great little cabin right on the water. If you want privacy and a lovely view with direct access to the water, book it! There are seals in the water not far off the shore and the access to Blue Hill and other towns is very reasonable for an isolated spot.

Great, remote cabin on the water

November 18, 2021

We stayed at this cabin for a week and had an amazing time. The cabin is pretty far off the beaten path — it is a solid 15 to 20 minute drive to Blue Hill, the closest amenities. However, it is both right on the water and surrounded by forest. It is quiet with great views and accommodated my spouse and I very well for our time there.

Quite a retreat!

The view cannot be beat. The water, land, air, and foliage all meeting at this point of the cove where the property is.

This is a small cabin, but not tiny. It also has an enclosed porch and a stand-alone utility shed so our suitcases and other large items didn’t have to share the living space. It was clean and ready when we arrived.

There is no better place to stay to explore Harriman Point than this place, and it is advantageously both close enough and distanced enough from the tourist-heavy Bar Harbor area that you get the best of both worlds — uncrowded nature when you want it, the Acadia area, and the Bar Harbor scene too. A good grocery store (Tradewinds) is 20 minutes away.

A note on the Internet situation: it’s not unlimited so TV-junkies, leave your Roku at home — it’s not appropriate for streaming TV & movies. However, it is fast enough for web-surfing and even I could be in a couple of Zoom conference calls — including one that I had to host — without any problems.

The owner left a hand-written welcome letter which was very charming, and all of their previous welcome letters were there too.

100% would recommend to my friends!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at this cabin.

We had difficulty finding it in the dark when we arrived, as GPS wasn’t properly locating 24 Clam Cove – but it is to the right branch of Clam Cove (to the left of the gate denoting Harriman Reserve, you initially can’t see well that there is another road there around the corner of the trees).
It is quite a bit off the main road, surrounded for trees except for one neighbor.

It is truly maybe 10ft from the water at high tide and thus was a great spot to kayak (we rented a tandem from the week from The Activity Shop – they picked up and dropped off all the needed equipment) and to enjoy the sunsets from Allen Cove.
This also meant that at times the smell of the ocean was strong in the bedrooms.

The cabin is a quiet escape from the busier Mount Desert Island, but that being said, is also further from larger shopping centers etc. There are a couple of places to eat out nearby but we mostly enjoyed staying in and cooking.
The kitchen has all the basic cookware one would need to accomplish this.
There is also a steady supply of hot water – note that the “C” on the shower is for hot water, not the “H”.

This was not a luxurious cabin, but it definitely got you into the beautiful nature and wildlife of Maine (including mosquitoes… prepare for this at night).
Even the neighbor was very nice to chat with when he was out with his dog. Altogether we enjoyed our stay greatly and would come again!

The view are spectacular.
